TITLE: Ascentia A Plus and Minidock

ISSUE

After docking the Ascentia A Plus to the minidock under Windows
95, the PC card slots in the minidock may not function properly.

This issue affects the following Ascentia A Plus systems:
   503375-xxx, 503377-xxx.

BACKGROUND

   N/A

ACTION

Use the Hard Drive Restore CD that shipped with the Ascentia A
Plus system to restore the operating system and applications. It
is not necessary to format the partition on the system.

To perform the restoration, follow the steps below:

   1. Enter CMOS Setup by pressing the [F2] key at boot.

   2. Use the arrow keys to select the Boot option on the
menu and press the [Enter] key,

   3. Use the arrow keys to select "CD-ROM drive". Then
press the space key until this option is at the top.

   4. Insert the AST Restore CD in the CD-ROM Drive, save
the changes, and exit CMOS Setup.

The system will boot to the CD and present two options:

The first option will format the hard drive and restore the
Windows 95 operating system and drivers. This option will result
in a loss of all data currently on the drive.

The second option will restore the Windows 95 operating system
and all pre-installed applications without formatting the hard
drive. This option will not result in loss of any data on the
hard drive but any third party applications will need to be
   re-installed.

Before docking the system, remove any PC cards from the computer
and the minidock. Shut the system down, dock with the minidock,
and turn the system ON. Windows 95 will detect the minidock and
   setup a new hardware profile.

After this process is complete, reboot the system, open the
Control Panel, and double-click the PC card icon. This will
launch the PC Card Hardware Wizard. Follow the directions on the
screen. After the wizard is complete, cold boot the system to
   complete the operation.

NOTES

AST is not responsible for any data lost as result of this
   operation.
